Accessibility

Wheelchair and companion seating is configured with a 1 to 1 arrangement in the Orchestra & Dress Circle Levels. In the Orchestra, companions will have a seat provided to them beside the wheelchair. Please note that wheelchair patrons and companions are NOT seated together in the Dress Circle. The companion seat is located in a row in front on a lower level from the wheelchair seat and is separated by a wall. Accessible seating in the Dress Circle area is not recommended patrons who require verbal contact with the accompanying companion. Additional companion seats may be purchased in sections nearby. The concourse area is completely accessible with entry from the main entrance doors. Elevator access available from the main lobby to the Dress Circle Wheelchair accessible washrooms on the orchestra level and the 3rd floor. Depending on show configuration and stage set up, some sections may not be open for all events.

Parking

Parking near the theatre is limited. Give yourself extra time before your event to find parking. There is no parkade attached to the Orpheum, but there is parking in the neighbourhood, at meters, and public parking lots. Metropolitan Towers at 930 Seymour Street is one option (the elevator closes at 10:30pm) or an open-air parking lot at 848 Seymour Street accessed via Seymour.

Accessible seating

Accessible seating is available on the Orchestra and Dress Circle levels, one companion seat adjacent may be booked. There is an elevator from at the Smithe Entrance Dress Circle and Balcony Levels. Hearing assist units are available at the Coat Check. Patrons wanting to use either a VCT headset or neck-loop and receiver (for T-Coil equipped personal hearing aids, or cochlear implants) should request these in advance by emailing VCTAudienceServices@vancouver.ca See Accessibliity Page: https://vancouvercivictheatres.com/accessibility/#accessibility

Venue rules

Children

Vancouver Civic Theatres requires that all audience members, including children, must have a ticket. There are no exemptions to this policy regardless of the child's age. If you bring young children to a performance, please be respectful of other patrons by encouraging them to observe proper theatre etiquette such as sitting still and not talking during the performance. If children become restless during the performance, you may be asked to take them into the lobby. All children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by another patron 16 years of age or older.
